Braidalot is a unisex sock pattern featuring different types of braids. First off there are Latvian braids, secondly there is a piece of stranded colourwork depicting a braid, and finally there are different types of cables that were also inspired by their braided counterparts. These socks are knit cuff down with a variation of the Fleegle heel.
There are 3 sizes available: Small (64 stitches), Medium (72 stitches) and Large (80 stitches).
The pattern is worked at a gauge of 8 stitches and 11 rows = 2.5 cm in stockinette and 8 stitches and 10 rows = 2.5 cm in stranded stockinette.
You’ll need 75-100 grams of fingering weight sock yarn for the main colour and 10 grams for each of the 2 contrast colours.
Limited edition yarn + pattern kits are available in my webshop.
Other materials required are a set of knitting needles for working small circumferences in the round, needles to achieve gauge in stranded colourwork, at least 5 stitch markers, a cable needle if you use one for cabling, and a tapestry needle.
The original sample was knit up in Het Wolbeest Basis Sok in colourway Eowyn.
This pattern contains 7 pages. Basic instructions are 4.5 pages and then there is 1 page of charts per size.
